Personality and Mood Disorders in Developmental Services
This course emphasizes skills in conducting an effective interaction through emotional validation and maintenance of boundaries. You will develop a nuanced understanding of mood disorders and personality disorders across different clusters and their associated presentations.
By the end of this course, you will be able to identify and conceptualize the underlying needs of a person with a personality or mood disorder and a developmental or intellectual disability apart from their outward emotional/behavioral response. Given a patient/client interaction, you will be equipped with the skills to effectively respond and interact with the person.
Recommended for healthcare professionals working with people who have developmental service needs. Includes but is not limited to: Registered nurses, allied health workers, behavioural and recreational therapists, and occupational therapists.
